As part of our bid to become UK City of Culture in 2025, this week we confirmed a local partnership with India Business Group. India Business Group is one of the UK’s leading business advisory consultancies working in the UK, EU and India markets. The Group provide expertise, connections and cultural awareness in helping organisations with market level entry, expansion and deal making.
The partnership will support our bid process and strengthen the city’s position as a global trading destination. Southampton has a strong India diaspora who are central to the development of the bid, its themes, the associated programme and its legacy, should the bid be successful.
“Being a native son of Southampton, I am so proud, humbled and honoured that India Business Group is able to help Southampton to become UK City of Culture. In my role as CEO of India Business Group, I often tell people how lucky we are to be that living bridge between the UK and India, the world’s fifth largest economy. The bid is our golden opportunity to forge even closer links as we show off what this tremendous city has to offer the world.” Amarjit Singh, Founder & CEO of India Business Group
As part of the partnership, as well as playing a role in the delivery our ongoing public consultations that will help to shape our bid, India Business Group will help to develop new local, national and international business opportunities, aligned to the bid.
Importantly, India Business Group wil help to promote the positive impacts that winning UK City of Culture will have for Southampton. These include the overall economic benefits, inward investment opportunities, the creation of new jobs and showcasing Southampton’s rich diverse and cultural heritage.
“Our partnership with India Business Group will raise our bid to become UK City of Culture to the next level, strengthening our international ties and positioning Southampton as a global partner and destination for the future.” Claire Whitaker OBE, Southampton 2025 UK City of Culture bid Director
